Genital herpes symptoms and treatment

Genital herpes is highly infectious disease caused during the sexual activities.Genital herpes is caused by a virus called Herpes Simples(HSV).There are in general two types of HSV i.e HSV-I and HSV-II, both of the viruses infects the genital areas,nose, mouth,figures and hands as well.The risks increases if the person is engaged in sexual activities with more than one partner.It can also be transmitted from a mother to her baby during the time of delivery.

The sign and symptoms of genital herpes differ from person to person.The symptoms appear within 2 or 10 days after the infection.Initially the symptoms are very mild that are hardly noticed.

Symptoms of Genital Herpes are:

Sometimes after the initial infection there may be fever or flu like symptoms.Other signs include-

1)Headache and reduced appetite.

2)Ill-feeling.

3)Muscle ache,pain,itching near penis or vulva.

4)Blisters that lasts at least for 2 weeks.

5)Fatigue and fever.

6)Unusual vaginal or urethral discharge and swollen lymph nodes in the groin.

7)Painful urination.

There is no defined cure for genital herpes, but the pain and itching can be reduced with the help of medicines.Anti-viral medicines are advised as soon as the first outbreak of the symptom is recognized.

-Wear loose comfortable clothes and use soothing creams and ointments on the blisters, it helps reducing the pain and itching sensations.

-Maintain a healthy immune system, it prevents and reduce the frequency of outbreaks.

-Do not touch the infected area during the outbreaks, keep the infected area clean and wash your hand properly after using the bathrooms and touching the genital areas.

-Also, avoid using antibacterial soaps,perfumes or feminine deodorant.
