Toothache causes,prevention and treatment
Toothache is normally caused due to the inflammation of the middle portion of the tooth known as pulp.The pulp has nerves in it which are very sensitive.Dental cavities, infection and trauma are the causes of inflammation and results in toothache.
Causes of toothache:
1)Infected gums.
2)Tooth decay.
3)Tooth fracture.
4)Damaged filling.
5)Repetitive habit of grinding teeth or chewing gum.
Symptoms of toothache:
-Toothache can be mild, sharp or constant.It is also caused by applying pressure to the tooth.
-Headache or fever.
-Swelling in the gum.
Treatment for toothache:
-Wash your head. keep the wet cloth on it.Now take hot water mixed with salt and wash your mouth with it.Instantly wash your mouth with cold water.
-In case toothache becomes severe, the patient should not eat for at least 3 days and take juices everyday.
-Bath with hot water twice a day.
-Use clove oil and apply it on your tooth or you can also apply grinded ginger and clove on the aching tooth.
If the problem still exist then you should consult your dentist, may be cavity is the cause of toothache.One option to cure the problem is to fill the cavity and the other one is to perform root canal on the infected tooth.
Toothache can be prevented by taking corrective measures such as following a good oral hygiene which include brushing regularly , flossing once daily and visiting your dentist at least twice a year.
