Shingles, its symptoms and treatment

Shingles is a type of viral disease caused by Varicella Zoster Virus(VZV), the same virus that is responsible for developing chicken pox in children.Shingles early signs are burning,headache,upset stomach,fever, tingling pain or numbness of skin.Initially the virus affect the children in form of chicken pox, but sometimes after the treatment the virus doesn’t leave the body and reappear  with more symptoms in form of  shingles.

It takes long time for the virus to effect the body again in form of shingles.The early symptoms of shingles may look like flu to a person including muscle ache or fever.

Symptoms of Shingles:

Symptoms of shingles appear depending on the different parts of nerves it affects.Generally in medical terms shingles can affects all parts of the body.The primary symptom of shingle is sever pain in one part of the body.The sensation of pain can raise either itchiness, extreme ache or tingling sensation.The pain is usually quick,intense and difficult to bear.

Other symptoms include vision problem,hearing loss,fever and chills,taste problem,muscle weakness,and rash also appears in the same affected area.The rash begins to become  bunches of red bumps.Later on these red bumps are transformed to small blisters filled with fluid.And these blisters are very painful to touch.

In medical terms shingles doesn’t have any treatment but the intensity of pain and discomfort can be reduced.The blisters and rash that appears on skin can also be cured.

Just follow the prescribed medicines by your doctor.The antiviral medicines helps in reducing the duration of the symptoms of shingles.It is necessary that you follow a proper medication within 72 hours of the appearance of the symptoms of shingles to speed up the recovery from the ailment.

Painkillers are also provided to get relief from the pain,doctors also prescribe various antihistamine creams to reduce the itchiness.Many health experts also recommend application of petroleum jelly which gives a soothing affects and also speeds up the healing process.
