Food for pregnant women suffering from gestational diabetes

A pregnant women has to take care about lot of things during her pregnancy period.If any women develops diabetes during her pregnancy then it is known as Gestational diabetes or Diabetes Mellitus.This type of diabetes occurs during the period of pregnancy.

The common symptoms of gestational diabetes are fatigue, hunger, thirst.In most of the cases gestational diabetes is cured itself after delivery. However, a proper diet for gestational diabetic women is recommended by the doctors in order to have a healthy baby and to maintain a good health of the mother as well.

It is better to talk to your dietician or your personal doctor about the precautions and the diet to be followed during the pregnancy period.Foods such as snacks, candies, potato chips and other sugary foods should be avoided.

Diabetes means to  maintain a uniform level of sugar in your body.Some diet concepts that should be kept in mind for the women suffering from getstaional diabetes are-

1)Increase the intake of foods consisting of fibres such as dried beans, vegetable, fruits, and whole grains.

2)Avoid foods with  high level of cholesterol such as egg yolk and make sure that you should not consume  more than 300mg of cholesterole per day.

3)Reduce the beverages containing high level of alcohol.Soda drinks are also avoided during the whole pregannacy period.

4)Avoid high intake of salt products also.Make sure to have foods which have less  than 140 gm of sodium.

5)Avoid  saturated fats instead consume monosaturated fats and omega-3 fats each day.

6)Consume at least 25% of protein daily.

The snacks you take daily should consists of less carbohydrates Generally the whole calorie chart depends on the weight, age,activity level and number of fetus inside your body.
