Olive oil is fatty in nature, but considered healthy for the body.The main type of fat found in olive oil is Monounsaturated Fatty Acids(MUFAs).The diet consisting of monounsaturated fats or polyunsaturated fats gives you many health benefits as compared  to trans and saturated fats.

MUFAs and PUFAs helps in lowering heart disease risk as well as lowers one’s cholesterol and low density lipoprotein cholesterol levels.Some researchers has also shown that MUFA plays an important role in normalizing blood clotting and befits insulin levels and control blood sugar.

Unhealthy foods can not be made healthier simply by  adding olive oil to them.Also, the olive oil should be kept far from the direct effect of heat,light and air as it alter the taste and health promoting nutrients.

Olive oil should be consumed within a year or six months once opened as the poly-nutrients and the taste of the oil degrade over time.
