5 easy steps to avoid overeating
Most of the time people do not think much about the harmful effects of overeating of the food and they just eat.Without giving a second thought people usually gulp down the whole bag of cookies or chips no matter how it will effect the inner system of the body.Though, there are some psychological reasons for it, such as stress, depression or boredom.There are many other reasons, why people overeat.
A study published in the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behaviour has pointed out the fact that people who are obese or overweight eat at least 3 times a week outside including the breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Here are some strategies to avoid overeating:
1)Drink lots of water- Doctors recommend to drink 8-10 glasses a day.Drinking water not only keeps you hydrated for the day long but also stomach feel fuller and thus helps in reducing your cravings.
2) Selection of portions- Instead of attacking the last piece of the cake juct choose the smallest one or simply share your part, rather than feeling guilty for your diet after overeating.
3)Keep all your snacks and beverages out of your own sight- Keep your favourite snack out of your reach rather out of your sight.Out of your sight means its not in your mind.Stick to healthy snacks and make it your habit.
4)Start using bowls and plates of smaller size-It is said that the smaller size of your plate will make up your mind psychologically that you have eaten enouhg and now you are completely full.
5)Chew food properly- This the fact that we all are hearing since our childhood to chew our food properly and slowly.Studies has shown that eating food slowly reduces the calorie intake to about 70 percent.Slow eating gives much time to the appetite related hormones to get activated.
Following the above measures does not mean that you make a distance from your favourite foods.But to have them at least for once a week,will make you happy and more energetic to avoid your bad habit of overeating for the entire life.
