Aromatherapy may have adverse effects
A study has revealed that spas which offers aromatherapy may have high levels of air pollutant such as ultra fine particles or volatile organic compounds, which effects the skin badly
Oils used in aromatherapy are derived from the plants which are reacted with ozone to produce secondary organic aerosols(SAO), that can harm eye,airway and causes irritation at times.
The research was conducted by Hsiao-Lin-Huang from Chia-Nan University, Der-Jen Hsu from National Kaohsiung First University and Shiann-Cherng Sheu from Chang-Jung Christian University.They analyzed and tested the herbal oils for SAO formation under various conditions.
And found that the indoor pollutants caused by aromatherapy inside the spas and beauty centers leads to health risks.The treatment can have adverse reactions on the skin or other parts of the body, so be cautious while using the aromatherapy.
