Aerobic exercises can be helpful to keep the brain young,says a new research from a University.The investigators emphasis up on the physical exercises because they provide good health and fitness.
In the study,physically active elderly people showed healthier cerebral blood vessels. The researchers distinguished the use of non-invasive magnetic resonance (MR) angiography to examine the number and shape of blood vessels in the brains of physically active elderly people,8men and 8women,ages 50-70.
The study subjects were proportionally divided into 2 groups .The high activity group reported participating in an aerobic activity for a minimum of 200 minutes per week for the past 12 consecutive years.
the low activity group told the investigators they had no history of regular exercising and currently spent less than 100 minutes in a week in any physical activities.
Aerobically active subjects exhibit more small-diameter vessels with less tortuosity,or twisting,than the less active group,exhibiting a vessel pattern similar to younger adults.
The brains blood vessels naturally narrow and become more torturous with advancing age,but the study showed the cardiovascular patterns of active patients appeared “younger” than those of relatively inactive subjects.
