Dehydration makes you lethargic and confused

Dehydration is caused when your body loses more fluid compared to the amount that goes inside the body.Dehydration causes excess loss of water from the body, which can be life threatening, if goes untreated.Our body is made up of 75 percent of water, so a better water management system is required for the normal functioning of blood vessels and other organs of the body.

The thirst mechanism of our body let us know that when it need more water to carry the normal functioning of all organs.The thirst indicator tells us to increase the water intake when it is lost as we urinate,sweat and breathe through out the day.

Studies have shown that a mild level of dehydration causes fatigue, headache,lack of concentration,difficulty in focusing certain tasks and constipation.

The test conducted by the University of Connecticut revealed that the mild dehydration have harsh side effects on people and do not depend if the person is walking or sitting for long hours.Even mild dehydration contribute to 1.5 percent of loss of water level inside the body.

Lawrence E.Armstrong, co author of the study at UConn said that the body needs to be hydrated all the day long not just for the moment when your are exercising,exertion or feel thirsty.The thirst indicator of the body alerts us only when the body is 1-2% dehydrated and needs more water to replenish.

The time you feel thirsty the dehydration has already started affecting the mind and body adversely.Armstrong further said that proper hydrated body is very necessary especially for the people who work all day sitting in front of computer as well as for marathon runners.
